"Your body is the ground metaphor of your life, the expression of your existence... So many of us are not in our bodies, really at home and vibrantly present there. Nor are we in touch with the basic rhythms that constitute our bodily life. We live outside ourselves - in our heads, our memories, our longings - absentee landlords of our own estate."
Gabrielle Roth

Who Is This For?

We have developed Yinbody for you!

Yinbody is geared towards any level - whether you have yet to set foot on a yoga mat to those experienced practitioners.

Yoga practitioners will find this course powerful as a way to deepen their own experience of Yin Yoga, expand their understanding of the practice and gain insight into teaching. Please note - this is not a training that sets you up you to teach Yin Yoga.

Things are rather interesting at the moment. If you are feeling a bit unsettled right now, not as fully grounded in the practices that help to keep you centred (like pretty much all of us) - the course could be an opportunity to press reset and reconnect.

Go at your own pace - move through the course in a structured way or jump right into the juicy stuff!

What Actually Is Yinbody?!!

Yin + Embody = Yinbody

Embody
To be embodied is to be grounded and present in the moment. Connected to one’s body and the Earth. Present with interoception (internal experience) and exteroception (the experience of the environment outside of the body). To be embodied is to be with the physical, mental and emotional experience in the now. Being with the breath.

Yin
Yin is the feminine, the dark side of the hill, the sacred mystery. Yin is the receptive principle - of surrender, flow, nourishment, death and resurrection.

Yinbody
Yinbody is a modern Yin Yoga practice with grounded roots in:
  • Traditional Hindu yogic teachings
  • Buddhist practices like mindfulness
  • Woven with ancient Taoist and Traditional Chinese Medicine ideologies
  • Western anatomical knowledge and
  • Evidence base trauma informed practice
In Yinbody, you will use energetic and breath practices to enhance your experience in Yin.

Yinbody brings in a fresh, contemporary flavour for the modern context, but it is not just a type or style of yoga. Yinbody is an approach to Yin Yoga (and more broadly an approach to life) that is both philosophical and experiential.

In this course you will delve into a journey through the Embody Wellbeing principles:
  • Grounding and Presence
  • The Namaste Principle
  • Transformation through Integration
  • Structure and Form, and Flow
  • Surrender and Grace

The Four Yinbody Groups

We work with 21 Yin Yoga poses in Yinbody but there are many more and endless variations – these are simply the foundation for you to build on.

To develop a structure for integrated, embodied learning, we categorised Yin poses into the Yinbody Groups according to their key energetic properties.

The Yinbody Groups are:
  1. The Healing Void
  2. The Open Heart
  3. Inner Space
  4. Transformation and Awakening

21 How-to Videos

Practice along with these teaching videos.

Explore these Yin poses in a deeply expressive embodied way.

Every video includes the variations, benefits, cautions and key meridian lines for the pose.

How to Work Through Yinbody...

You can work from start to finish with this course as it is set up in building blocks and creates a learning framework to move through. Or...

You can also jump around as much as you feel to, going at your pace, in your own time. Selecting parts that feel like they call you.

After the Intro Section, the course commences with a refresher 101 to yoga and its different components and introduces the basics of Yin Yoga.

The Transformation from The Inside section will support you through powerful processes, contemporary breathwork and deep journeys to help you (re)find your True North. Open the door for you to more deeply embody yourself. There are experiential self reflective practices based on the Embody Wellbeing principles, and powerful processes including The Path. You may want to work slowly through these over weeks, rather than 'do' them in order.

In the end of the course is the video library with 21 high quality videos that take you through each pose in an embodied way, the modifications and props for the pose and outlines some benefits, cautions and meridians for each pose as well. These have been designed for you to roll out your mat and practice with - doing the different modifications and working with the props as you move through each pose. This supports you to really get the pose in your body and explore in an integrated and embodied way.
